May 20, 2003 · The Laguna is a good entry level unit but the commercial ones run 3,500 to 5,000 rpm with a standard motor. Much quieter than the router unit. Easier to do angled joints and such. We have a Griggio and at least 10 shops near me all use similar machines from the Robland to Bini and such. All use loose tenon construction and high end type furniture.

I just made some for my tablesaw. Thanks. I have two suggestions from my experience. 1) If you also have a dado throat-plate for your saw, and I did, you can use this for your pattern without having to fill the guard slot.

Now, I like handplaning as much as the next guy, but I prefer to save my energy and let machines dimension lumber. To this end, I designed an adjustable sled that allows me to face-joint lumber with a thickness planer. The sled is reliable and quick to set up and adjust without using any tools.

Jul 1, 2009 · The advantage over the American lower priced mortise machines is the horizontal layout which is great for working with 6 X 6 beams for all the faces of the beam you choose to work. Plan on spending about $6K plus some machine shop custom work. good luck

Feb 27, 2006 · I recently bought a Makita 2040 planer that appears to be in good condition and have a few questions for anyone having experience with one of these machines. When I bought it the polyurethane feed rollers were shot, a common problem with this model, fortunately the company that specializes in recovering the rollers is nearby, so I got that done.

Most machines don't come with how to use guides. Even more true with bigger machines such as double end tenoners, pin routers, shapers.
